Terre Haute Humane Society Facility Expansion

Funding Amount:
$250,000.00
Vigo County

The Terre Haute Human Society is considered home for plenty of pups each year, but their facility is becoming too small and unsafe to house the animals, but the need is simple.

The Terre Haute Humane Society is building a veterinary clinic adjacent to the existing shelter at 1811 South Fruitridge Avenue. This low-cost, 4,000 square foot expansion vet clinic will offer spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and basic vet care to the public. The clinic will also include kennel space for the City of Terre Haute animal control and the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office animal control officers, while filling short-term needs like:

  • Additional kennel space for City and County animal control officers.
  • A medical resource for animal control and reduce the financial barrier to care for lower income residents.

The facility will fill long-term needs like:

  • Tackling the stray animal problem in our community through an aggressive low-cost spay/neuter program.
  • The clinic staffing would allow for one full-time veterinarian, two to three veterinarian technicians/assistants and one clinic manager/receptionist.
