SMWC Equine Event Center

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s Equine Program — the only Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies program in Indiana and one of approximately 20 nationwide — continues to enhance its facilities to support student growth and expanded event hosting. Nearly 50 college-owned horses are housed in a historic 1925 barn alongside modern equine facilities.

Recent facility improvements include:

• Upgrades to indoor and outdoor arenas to improve safety and year-round use
• Enhanced event spaces to better accommodate regional competitions and community programming
• Infrastructure improvements supporting accessibility, climate control, and spectator experience

SMWC sponsors two equestrian teams that compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and regularly host on-site competitions, drawing participants and spectators from across Indiana and neighboring states — reinforcing the College’s role as a regional hub for equine education and events.
